Proposed Mission Statement It is
suggested that the mission statement reads as follows: The ASC’s mission is to ·
facilitate access to Amma and to her close disciples and bring
Amma’s message to the country ·
help relieve suffering amongst the poor and needy in the
community. ·
promote the enhancement of the quality of life and the
environment through means developed by Amma and her devotees ·
help Amma devotees to pursue their own personal and spiritual
development and health Perhaps we could add ·
endeavour to be an exemplar of how a very diverse group of people
can work together as one to achieve a common purpose What does that mean? 1 includes visits by Amma
and her close disciples 2 covers
help for the elderly, poor one parent families, orphans, children with special
educational needs, the blind, those hard of hearing, immigrants, the
illiterate, the homeless, the lonely, those with suicidal tendencies – to
name but a few areas of need. There are gaps in provision for all these areas.
So there are countless opportunities to offer aid. 3 includes Nature Care,
Green Friend, Sacred Groves, Sacred Shores, Amrita Vanam (details available on Amma’s web site) 4 covers
satsangs, bhajans, mantras, IAM courses, the creation and maintenance of a UK
ashram By
2013 Amma will become a household word. She will be
widely known nationally; the media, politicians, theologians will talk about
her rather like they did about Gandhi. Amma will be acknowledged as a great
being in the media. They will have heard of the power of her love and
compassion. Amma will be revered like no other living person. Amma will visit some of the great cities of Britain
- Birmingham, Manchester, Liverpool, Glasgow and London - and 20,000 will come
to see her in each of them. Millions will become aware of
spirituality. Amma’s message of love will take root in our
educational system. An Amma educational centre will
run special courses for teachers. Amma’s humanitarian aid programme will be
acknowledged as a major force for good. Hundreds Amma devotees in the UK will be
running Amma projects for the homeless, racial minorities, asylum seekers,
educationally disadvantaged and for other groups in need. Amma’s
dream is fulfilled in the UK. Everyone will be able to sleep in their own bed,
peacefully for at least one night a year; every devotee will undertake some
humanitarian activity for at least one hour a week; hunger and poverty will be
eradicated; The ASC’s work will be acknowledged nationally -
by the voluntary sector and by government - as making a significant
contribution to voluntary sector activity. The ASC’s humanitarian aid work
will include nationally recognised projects in the fields of homelessness, care
for the elderly, hospice work, battered women, and other projects. As least £10m of donations will
have been received by the ASC to help with humanitarian aid. Our web site will make Amma’s
teachings available nationally to everyone with Internet access. There will be an Amma satsangs
in over 30 locations in the UK each month. Green Friends will be recognised
as a worthy role model by major organisations concerned with care for the
earth. The Soil Association and Friends
of the Earth will turn to us to seek guidance. A large percentage
of the population will become aware of their environment and spend at least one
hour a week attempting to improve it. IAM courses will be held in 12
locations twice a year. Many schools and educational
institutions will incorporate Amma’s teachings. Amma Ayurvedic clinics will be
established in many locations. Amma retreats will be held in 20
retreat centres all over the country. Amma youth projects will be role
models for youth nationally. Spiritual courses and retreats
will be available every month for people nationwide. All Amma devotees will awaken to
the true nature of the Self. With Amma’s grace all is possible. |
